Aldeburgh

The rückenfigur contemplates the landscape or events, is drawn into the scene or the action.  The photographer may observe the rückenfigur without knowing what induces the reverie – the face and the scene remain mysteries.

Had to look that one up – and I’m an admirer of Caspar David Friedrich too!
I like this – not only for the rückenfigurs, but for that wonderful expanse of fine texture!

      Hi Roy,

Yes, both features struck me – amazing what a bit of seaside sunshine can do.

I’ve seen a little of CDF’s work, but am not as familiar with it as I should be. I shall have to research this if I’m going to do a Blurb book with the Rear View/Ruckenfigur pictures, which is the aim.

Needless to say, I’m not alone on this subject, flickr has advice and a discussion pool on this, http://www.flickr.com/groups/ruckenfigur! Nothing new under the sun.

      Brian
