Campkins Camera Centre at 1 Rose Crescent, Cambridge, has closed and is being consolidated with the shop at 12a King’s Parade. The sad demise of what looked and felt like a traditional camera dealer’s shop, an echo of its predecessor at 15 King’s Parade, a photographic cabinet of curiosities where I bought my first serious (?) camera, a Baldi 29, in about 1965.

Dear Brian
I have used your photo of Campkins to go on my Facebook page with a bit from Friends of Histon Road Cemetery re Algernon Campkin: Town NOT Gown Cambridge History Tours .
Hope this is OK.
Many thanks

No problem Alan – I’m just amazed that anyone should have come across it!
