Deckchair

“This traditional deckchair is seen at beaches all across the country and has been in use in this form for over one hundred years. John Thomas Moore took out a patent for the adjustable folding chair in 1886 and manufactured them in Macclesfield, they were originally used on board ships, hence the name – deckchair. Soon after this they began to appear on promenades, piers and beaches up and down the country.”  www.deckchairsuk.co.uk
