Ghika Gallery

A friend, faced with the possibility of a flying visit to Athens, asked me after my recent trip, ‘Which one place would you go back to?’  My head would say the Acropolis, despite the overheated touristic chaos, with the Benaki Museum a close second (our might it be the Museum of Cycladic Art?).  My head would say the Ghika Gallery (flat and studio), a calm and beautiful haven of Post War Greek art and culture.  The connection with Patrick Leigh Fermor is a bonus for me.  Photo: Ghika’s portrait on Leigh Fermor, Ghika Gallery, Athens, June 2019
