“Take a stroll around one of Cambridge’s busiest junctions this month and you may notice a few new faces peering out at you from behind its shop windows.
Back by popular demand (see post 24th July 2014), Mitcham’s Corner is once again playing host to a number of colourful mannequins as part of a community art project aimed at celebrating its diverse culture.
The 2015 project, Words Around the Corner – organised by artist Paddy Manion – is all about bringing poetry to the area. Body parts of around 10 mannequins have been placed in shop windows, with each model emblazoned with words from poets such as Alan Buckley, Lorraine Mariner and Nick MacKinnon.
The mannequins will be on display for the next month in a bid to show off the history and diverse community which can be found at Mitcham’s Corner.”
