Take a Seat – Take a Moment 17

Taking a seat, taking a moment, is not always a solitary experience: sometimes a space is shared by choice, sometimes by necessity.  Here it’s a matter of necessity – like galleries, there are never enough seats on stations.  The space is shared but not the experience: on the left a man on the edge of his seat looks away from the others; two women are interested only in their mobile phones; their neighbour looks up the track distractedly; the two beside her are concerned for the possible arrival of the train, though the woman in blue tries to connect tentatively.  Photo: Doukissis Plakentias metro station, Athens, Greece, June 2019
