Thames

Argent Street, Grays, Essex, looking south east across the Thames, 5.00 pm, Monday 28th May.  A storm darkens the sky, thunder grumbles and lightening crackles through the clouds.  Foraging starlings squawk and squabble on the green brown scabs of low tide wrack.  Across the water comes the continuous low rumble of heavy machinery from a ship pumping its bilges, a rambling butte of silos, a Grimaldi line container carrier slipping off to the east.  An airliner growls overhead.  A sudden breeze sets up a susurrus of muddy wavelets.
