My post of 3rd February and a discussion over coffee at Balzano’s on Saturday got me thinking about cafes that have stayed in my mind. At the top end of the scale for style are Café Florian, Venice, Café Slavia, Prague and Café Tommaseo, Café San Marco and Café Degli Specchi, Trieste. I shall search my files to see if I have photographs from Prague and Trieste

But there are many cafes that have simply been pleasant places to pause, have decent coffee and watch the world go by. Places like Blighty Coffee, Blackstock Road, London, the Espresso Library, Cambridge and the Turl Street Kitchen, Oxford.
