Veil

Notre Dame de la Treille, Lille: “The neo-gothic cathedral was built in 1854 on the site of the former feudal mound. The main facade inaugurated in 1999, was designed by the Lille architect Pierre-Louis Carlier in collaboration with Peter Rice. The central section is covered with a translucent veil of white marble. At the top the glass rose window on the theme of the Resurrection is the work of this artist Ladislas Kijno, and the iron doorway is by the sculptor Georges Jeanclos.”  In the afternoon sun the veil illuminates the interior with a soft orange light.
