‘There is a memorial tablet in St. Mary’s Church raised to preserve from oblivion the memory of Peggy Davies, bathing women for forty two years, who was seized with apoplexy in the sea and died at the age of eighty two [1809].’ Princes, Pigs and People of Tenby, 2005
The church also has a memorial to Robert Recorde, Welsh physician and mathematician, who invented the equals sign and introduced the plus and minus signs to English speakers in 1557.
