The woman in black, her hand raised against the sun, stood at the edge of the Market Square looking up the street. She shifted from one leg to the other and back again. Lowering her hand, she tapped her phone, glanced at the screen and visibly relaxed. She turned right to be met by five happy, welcoming faces. A man in a blue suit, two shades too light and two sizes too tight, greeted her with a hug and, ‘Gosh, you do look scrummy’, as though she were a generous helping on Black Forest gateaux.
