Anglesey Abbey seemed become a public park yesterday afternoon – families walking, picnicking, playing games. True, this was a rare sunny day and Mothering Sunday, even so it was very busy again, and maybe this is now the norm. It prompted a number of thoughts. Is the NT a conservation body or big business? What does it tell us about the socio-economics of people living in the Abbey’s catchment? Do high quality public (municipal) parks have to be free?
