Agriculture, Deutsche Bank, Trieste, May 2023

Bronze of an African woman representing Agriculture, by Czech sculptor and designer Franta Anýž (1876 – 1934), at the entrance of the building on the Via Roma, Trieste built in 1914 by the Živnostenská banka of Prague, now the offices of Deutsche Bank.  In ancient Roman religion, Ceres was a goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships.  This figure is paired with a male representing Industry.
