The People of India: a series of photographic illustrations, with descriptive letterpress, of the races and tribes of Hindustan, was published by the India Museum, London, 1868-1875. It comprised eight volumes containing 450 images made by Watson and Kaye as part of the accumulation of colonial knowledge of arbitrarily constructed categories of native types.
