A new exhibition at the Fen Ditton Gallery.
‘The next exhibition of the Festival of Photography is a sensitive recording of County Mayo, Ireland, captured by Graham Murrell. These unseen photographs were taken during Murrell’s fellowship with the Ballinglen Arts Foundation Trust. Murrell describes his approach to photography as “reductive” and says “I am interested in the least amount of information that will result in pictures that are about ‘place’ rather than descriptive of it in the conventional sense.” His photographs are a construction of line and tone that seek to create a sense of balance, often around a central point, engaging with the tension of equilibrium between unequal values.’
