Three new shallow pond have been dug at the end of the dog-walking area off Broad Lane, Cottenham. They are still completely dry, which is no surprise seeing the wide cracks in the surrounding meadow – there is now water flowing in the nearby Cottenham Lode, however. I hope someone is going to do an ecological study to track the colonisation by fauna and flora of this new habitat.
