Pilgrimage – St Kilda

The editors of the Royal Academy of Arts Magazine (no. 158 Spring 2023) asked contributors to the describe art pilgrimages they wish to make. Painter Clare Woods RA said: ‘My pilgrimage would be to make, not see, art: the Archipelago of St Kilda in the North Atlantic, where I would photograph the landscape while experiencing the isolation the residents felt before they were evacuated in 1930.’
