I posted an item, ‘Cambridge Darkroom – Planning and Photography’, on 15th August 2022.  This came out of a discussion I had with two researchers, Alina Khakoo and Lucy Howie, who are looking at creative activities in Cambridge in the 1980s.

An event, ‘Radical Art in Cambridge’, has now been planned around their work.  It will take place on Wednesday 26th October at 5pm in the English Faculty, University of Cambridge.  The format is as follows.

A roundtable discussion on radical exhibitions, artists’ residencies, publishing and community photography in Cambridge in the 1980s.  Speakers include:

  • Pavel Buchler, Co-Director Cambridge Darkroom (1984-86)
  • Mark Lumley, Co-Director Cambridge Darkroom (1982-90)
  • Dr Sharon Kivland, Artist
  • Simon Cutts, Founder Coracle Press

The discussion will be chaired by Dr Amy Tobin, Curator at Kettle’s Yard and Assistant Professor at the Department of History of Art, University of Cambridge.

A recording of the discussion will be made available to watch online after the event has taken place.
