Spent some time at the weekend doing a first edit of photographs to go in a book recording my visits to Shingle Street. They fall into 14 more or less well defined categories, hamlet, beach, percolation lagoons etc. As always with such editing, there is the risk of including ‘favourites‘ that don’t really fit. There’s also the dilemma: choose the images that are best photographically or those that illustrate significant features as part of the narrative? In the ideal world where I am a much better photographer they would be one and the same, of course, so a balance has to be struck. I selected 33 pictures from this edit. I shall review them all again; and there is a final visit to be made, which is likely to add to the photo pool.
