Shutter Hub: Home

The deadline for submissions to the Shutter Hub ‘Home’ publication is on the 29th May. Shutter Hub describes the project as follows.

Home can be found in a person or a memory, in a place or a feeling. The holding of hands, the warmth of a smile, a sentiment, or sense of belonging. The comfort of home doesn’t always come with four walls. Home can be anything, anywhere.

We’re revisiting some of our favourite themes of the last decade, and our next stop is 2019’s HOME exhibition at Gallery at Home in Wales. We’re inviting photographers to submit their work for our next Shutter Hub Editions publication and answer the wide-reaching question – what does home mean to you?

I’ve submitted five pictures from my ‘Journey Round My Room’ project (see post 26th September 2024) with this text:

‘Planet Earth, our town, our dwelling: places we call home.  Within them are things that that offer a sense of peace, comfort, and belonging: a sea shore, a street, a bed.  In the domestic setting small objects embodying memories and intimacies become symbols of home.  Things that have accompanied us on the journey through life, talismans that turn a new room into a home.’
