St David’s Cathedral sits in a valley, once hiding it from marauding Vikings. Now lamps are lit as evening descends and the visitor depart. From my eyrie above The Pebbles the Cathedral is transformed.
‘This is the land of Narnia,” he [the faun] tells her, “where we are now; all that lies between the lamp post and the great castle of Cair Paraval on the eastern ocean,’
The lamp-post is a landmark for the Pevensie children to show them the way into Narnia from the Wardrobe. Lucy uses it as a beacon home when she leaves Mr. Tumnus’ house on her first voyage into the fantasy world. For C. S. Lewis the lamp post represents the never ending light of holiness that comes from Heaven.

The wood engraver Kath Littler (https://www.kathlittler.co.uk/) has created an alternative magical view of the Cathedral. Thanks to JulieW for pointing me towards Kath’s work.
