The Temple, Anglesey Abbey

The Temple, Anglesey Abbey, October 2022

8th October.  Another brilliant, sunny autumn day.  At Anglesey Abbey the trees are turning glorious gold, amber and red – a very special show, due perhaps to the long dry summer.  The liquid amber trees (Liquidambar styraciflua, commonly called sweetgum , redgum, satin-walnut, or American storax, is the only genus in the flowering plant family Altingiaceae and has 15 species) were especially stunning, for all that they are relatively small (they can grow to 18m with a 12m spread).  Not everyone was focussed on the trees.
