I used a Harman disposable camera loaded with HP5 Plus for this assignment (see post 20th January). My aim was to look at aspects of tourism in Cambridge in three pictures.
- Market Street/Sidney Street: Restaurants and cafes have proliferated often taking over retail units. This pizza restaurant is in premises that used to be occupied by Joshua Taylor, the most stylish department store in Cambridge
- Café Nero, King’s Parade: Once cafes rarely had outdoor tables, certainly not in January. Visitors have brought expectations of street cafes; and residents have learned this from their travels abroad.
- Postcards King’s Parade: Is this shop bucking the fashion for sending digital pictures of travels? I used a photo of the same display on the cover of a report on tourism I wrote 30 years ago.
