Venus Pudica, Fitzwilliam Museum, 2023

Venus Pudica by Pompeo Marchesi (Italian, 1789-1858, Milan). White marble, dated 1829. Created for Duca Pompeo Litta Visconti Arese and situated in one of the grottos of the Nymphaeum of the Villa Lainate, near Milan, reputedly from a palazzo in Rome.
