28th May 2024, half a day in Bournemouth; a grey Tuesday with a chilly wind and some early rain. The town looked damp and depressing – also cheap and tacky, like so many other aging seaside resorts. Visitors seeking shelter packed the money-eating amusement arcade on the pier. Empty shops cast gloom on the edge of the centre. This mural seemed to say it all.
