My photographs are not all abstract; I’ve included reflections in my interpretation of the brief.
Water 1 – Mowbray Road Reflections in puddles, easily ignored when we trudge around the gloomy, wet January streets. Here the puddles, veined with tree branches float like clouds against a gritty sky. The sense of unreality is enhanced by forcing the purple tones in the tarmac.
Water 2 – Quy Water The poplars that overlook Quy Water at Anglesey Abbey always create interesting reflections. I wanted a picture that conveyed a sense of calm. A carefully placed pebble provided a ring of ripples. It was a grey day and again I’ve manipulated the colours. I think it’s spolit by the lack of symmetry in the trees.
Water 3 – Bottisham Lock I was fascinated by the bubbling turmoil of the water rushing through the sluice at Bottisham lock. I focussed on a small area and forced extreme colours to create something like the chaos of exploding stars.
